What Problems Does a Bad AC Condenser Cause?

It goes without saying that you want your air conditioner to work to the best of its abilities at all times. Nobody wants to face a costly repair. The best way to prevent this from happening is by scheduling regular maintenance appointments with our staff. However, even a well maintained system can run into issues. And addressing problems right away is essential to avoiding major emergencies later on.

One of the most common reasons for AC problems is a bad condenser. This component is housed in the outdoor unit of your AC system, along with the compressor. It condenses the refrigerant form a gas into a liquid as it moves to the indoor evaporator. As essentially the heart of your air conditioner, condenser failure can negatively impact the performance, efficiency, and lifespan of the system.

What Happens When My Condenser Malfunctions?

A bad condenser can cause a number of problems. For example, your AC may not be able to produce as much cool air as it should be able to, resulting in higher energy bills for you despite less efficiency and comfort. Keep in mind, this can also be a sign of a compress issue or a refrigerant leak. If you suspect either, it’s important to give our staff a call right away.

A blocked condenser can cause a process called short-cycling, when your system cycles on and off rapidly, not allowing for the proper function of your AC system. This will eventually cause more wear and tear than your system should have to withstand, which means you can find yourself facing a premature breakdown.

Maintenance Is Essential

As mentioned above, maintenance is key to protecting your system from potential condenser problems. It is during maintenance that our expertly trained staff will clean and inspect your entire AC system as thoroughly as possible. We’ll also inform you if there are any problems that require attention, so that you have less of a risk of facing expensive repairs later.
