Monday, August 12th, 2019

ac-being-repaired-by-techWhen temperatures soar during out hot summer days, you might run into an air conditioning problem that prevents your system from rising to the occasion. It’s alarming when your air conditioner isn’t sending out the cool air you need to feel comfortable, or if it isn’t sending out any air at all!

In the scramble to get your air conditioner back to work as quickly as possible, you might try to fix it yourself by opening up one of its cabinets and poking around inside with a DIY guide up on your laptop. You may even call a handy neighbor to help.

Cooling System DIY: Changing Your Air Filter

Monday, May 6th, 2019

man-holding-air-filterWhen it comes to air conditioning maintenance, you may already know what to do. Once a year, give a professional a call to come in and inspect your system, make any necessary adjustments, clean the unit inside and out, and recommend repairs if needed.

Is that all that can be done, though? If you’re wondering if once a year is often enough to do any maintenance to your air conditioner, the answer is no.

There is one maintenance task in particular that homeowners can not only do on their own, but they should be doing on their own, and that’s changing the air filter in the system. But, why?

Why You Shouldn’t Tackle AC Projects Yourself

Monday, August 13th, 2018

technician working on air conditionerAs the heat gets progressively worse over the course of summer, the last thing you want is to deal with an air conditioner that can’t keep up. It can certainly be alarming when a cooling system isn’t able to cool in order for you to feel comfortable, or if the airflow doesn’t seem powerful enough. When these things occur, we understand how tempting it can be for you to try to save money by looking up how to fix the problem yourself. Or, you may choose to call “that guy down the street” who has some handyman skills.

We urge you to not go with either of these options. Rather than attempting a repair on your own—and potentially damaging your Katy, TX air conditioning system further in doing so, it’s a better idea to call trained and experienced HVAC technicians. There are a number of reasons for this, which we’ve highlighted below:

It’s Never Too Early to Schedule AC Maintenance

Monday, January 29th, 2018

male technician working on outside unit of an air conditionerIn a place like Texas, it can be hard to keep an air conditioner in pristine condition, considering how much demand homeowners put on their systems. If you care for your cooling system properly, however, there’s no good reason it can’t work as efficiently and effectively as possible for as long as possible. Part of this care is ensuring you invest in routine Sugar Land, TX air conditioning maintenance.

One of the most common questions we get about maintenance is when the best time to schedule it is. Generally speaking, air conditioning maintenance should be scheduled before the system’s heaviest period of use, so in early spring. However, when you have your maintenance scheduled is not as important as how often you have the service completed. But why is preventive maintenance so necessary?

How Can You Get the Most from Your Ductless System?

Monday, January 1st, 2018

Closeup view about using some appliance such as air condition.Ductless cooling and heating systems often get mistaken for standard room air conditioners thanks to their setup. They do have many of the same components; however, the configuration of a ductless system is much different than that of a traditional Houston, TX air conditioning system. Ductless systems include an indoor unit and a separate outdoor condenser. They also involve a larger investment, but for good reason (namely, efficiency!)

Take care of your investment by scheduling routine maintenance. Since ductless systems are used all year, the best way to care for the system is by scheduling this maintenance session twice a year rather than once annually as you would with a conventional air conditioner. Why is this so important?

Upgrade Your Heat Pump for Winter Comfort!

Monday, December 18th, 2017

family in living room looking comfortableAre you already using a heat pump system for your cooling needs during the year? Living where we do, it’s vital that you have an efficient Sugar Land, TX air conditioning system, and investing in a heat pump ensures this is the case. A heat pump system is a great choice for homeowners who want year-round comfort all from one system, as heat pumps have a reversing valve that allows for sufficient heating too, when winter comes.

Now, it’s true that for the most part, our winters are fairly mild. It’s rare that our lows dip below 45°. But it has been known to get colder than that, especially at night during the winter. And when that happens, your heat pump can struggle to draw in warm air in order to effectively heat your home. All is not lost, though! Your solution lies in a system upgrade, from a heat pump system to a dual fuel system!

A heating/cooling vent register on the wall of a home, with open/close leverWe may be edging closer to winter, but around our area that doesn’t mean much when it comes to the use of our air conditioners. Still though, as the weather does cool off, you’ve likely begun to use your AC system less and less, and probably aren’t thinking about it much, either. But your Houston, TX air conditioning system shouldn’t be neglected—especially not after a long, hard season of use.

We understand how tempting it is to wait. After all, you’re going to need your air conditioner a lot less in the coming months, right? But if you want to ensure that your AC system lasts through any heat waves that we experience and won’t break down on you when you need it the most, then it’s time to take care of any problems that do currently exist. But what problems should you look out for?
