Monday, September 9th, 2019

old-outdoor-ac-unitJust because the official end of summer is near doesn’t mean our temperatures will suddenly cool down. In fact, you can expect to need your cooling system for quite a bit longer.

However, this winding-down time of the season is a good point to assess your air conditioner’s needs and whether you want to keep using it after you fix it up a bit, or if you’re ready for replacement.

They’re fantastic for homes that don’t have a space for a ducted system, or even households that experience indoor air quality problems from a ducted HVAC system. But, as we said, ductless systems do have unique needs—what happens if yours isn’t installed the right way?

We typically recommend this service be done in the spring before you need your air conditioner the most.

What if you have a heat pump? The same rule applies, except you should have maintenance done on this system twice a year, since it does get year-round use. Without maintenance, you can run into any number of problems. One issue in particular that we get calls for as temperatures rise is in regards to a heat pump that won’t switch modes—that is, a heat pump system that won’t come out of heating mode and into cooling mode.
